March 13, 2015 – Smart Grid Innovation Cluster Announces Addition of SmartSenseCom to Startup Accelerator Program
The Smart Grid Cluster, a business accelerator platform for innovative smart grid companies, today announced the addition of SmartSenseCom to its comprehensive startup accelerator program.
SmartSenseCom has developed next-generation fiber optic sensor systems based upon proven military technology that offer unparalleled intelligence into grid operations. Effective at any voltage or current level, in both AC and DC systems, SmartSenseCom’s products provide grid operators with lower cost, higher quality network monitoring – with the speed and accuracy necessary to safely integrate renewables, increase network efficiency, and achieve closed-loop, automated grid control.
"We are excited to join the energy thought leaders at the Smart Grid Cluster,” said Jack Barker, President of SmartSenseCom. “The electric grid is undergoing a period of fundamental change and we look forward to accelerating that transformation with the support of the Smart Grid Cluster, its industry partners, and its growing network of like-minded businesses.”
The Smart Grid Cluster is a Chicago-based collaborative ecosystem that seeks to attract and support smart grid innovators in order to enhance market opportunities, accelerate business and product development, create jobs and advance the development of a smarter grid. The Smart Grid Cluster is supported through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as one of the 10 “Innovative Economies” selected in a national competition in 2010, and is managed by a partnership of Illinois’ leading energy organizations.
