Technology 

The SmartSenseCom technology platform is rooted in sensing technology developed by the United States Naval Research Laboratory.  NRL played a pivotal role over the last several decades in the evolution of optical sensing–pioneering interferometry based techniques employing phase, wavelength and polarity measurements; contributing significantly to the fundamental research in light as a measurement tool; and, continuing to work extending the borders of the possible.  The intensity modulation techniques that SSC licensed are the next step in the evolution of measurement in the field.  The SSC platform competes in the lab, and excels in real world operations.  And the innovation continues at SSC today – the SSC Chief Scientist, who led development of the technology platform during his 35 year career at NRL, leads the extension and improvement of the technology by the company, and is a key element in the continuing cooperation between SSC and NRL.

  • Acoustic – Robust, wide environmental range, with sustained sensitivity better than high performance condenser microphones.
 
SmartSenseCom has continued to innovate, adding sensor probes, streamlining the electro-optics, and consolidating electro-optics with data acquisition and base processing electronics
  • Temperature – 100% dielectric temperature sensor, retains ability to measure in fractions of a degree C
  • Pressure – 100% dielectric, retains high performance atmospheric measurement and measurement in liquids
  • Acoustic – 100% dielectric microphone, robust, with wide environmental range and high sensitivity
  • Electric Field – Improved voltage measurement accuracy when compared to alternative instruments, consistent at all voltage levels
  • Magnetic Field – Able to measure AC and DC current flow in electric power systems with higher accuracy in the filed than conventional instruments
